  • 1 medium tuber of yam
  • 500 ml vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder


  • Peel and cut the yam into four equal parts
  • Heat the vegetable oil and carefully grate the yam sheets into the oil
  • Fry until slightly golden and crispy, take out of the oil, place on a paper tissue to drain excess oil
  • Season with salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder and toss to coat evenly
  • Yam chips ready to serve. Serve with any dip of your choice
