
Sausage Rolls
know people might be expecting rolls made with puff pastry which is light and flaky but no African sausage roll is often made with the same pastry dough used for our local meat pie wrapped around delicious sausages. Love my sausage rolls made with chicken sausage
Equipment
- Glass Mixing Bowl
- Rubber spatula
- Chopping Board
- Rolling Pin
- Dough cutter
- Ceramic Plate
- Small mixing bowl
- Baking Tray
- Oven
- Brush
Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 200 g butter softened.
- 4 tbsp cold water
- 1 pack chicken sausages
- 1 large egg, for wash
Instructions
- Pour all the dry ingredients into the flour and mix together
- Add the butter, rub in until a breadcrumb like mixture and add the cold water and mix into a dough
- Lightly sprinkle flour on a flat surface and roll the dough into a inch thick layer and cut out into your desired shape
- Place the chicken sausage on each cut out dough, wrap and seal off with each wash
- Place on a parchment lined baking pan and brush with the remaining egg wash
- Bake in a pre-heated oven at 170c for 20 minutes
- Sausage rolls ready to serve. Best serve warm
