Cheesy Fried Plantain
Equipment
- 1 Chopping Board
- 1 knife
- 1 Frying Pan
- 1 Deep Skimmer
- 1 Mixing Bowl
Ingredients
- 2 whole Ripe Plantains (medium sizes)
- 250 grams Mozzarella Cheese (block)
- 1 ltr Vegetable Oil
For Coating
- 2 cups Panko Breadcrumbs
- 1 tsp Cayenne Pepper
- 1 tsp Ginger Powder
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 tsp Garlic Powder
- 1 tsp Black Pepper
- ½ tsp Cloves
- 1 tsp Cloves
For The Egg Wash
- 2 Eggs
- Pinch of Salt
Instructions
- On a chopping board, cut plantains into 3inch chunks
- Next, create holes in the plantain using an apple corer or any tool you can improvise with
- Slice the mozzarella cheese into sticks or thin slices that will fit neatly inside the plantain.
- Insert the mozzarella sticks into the holes of the plantain.
For The Coating
- In a mixing bowl, pour bread crumbs, cayenne pepper, powdered cloves, ginger powder, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, black pepper and give it a stir.
For The Egg Wash
- Break eggs into a bowl add salt and whisk until even.
- Fully Immerse the stuffed plantain in the egg mixture rolling it till it’s evenly coated.
- Then put the plantain in the breadcrumbs mixture to evenly coat as well.
- In a pan over medium heat pour your oil, allow it to heat up.
- Gently add the plantain to the oil and allow to fry, turning occasionally until golden brown for 15 mins.
- Remove and place the plantain on a paper towel, to drain excess oil.
- Enjoy your cheesy fried plantain!
