
Peppered Snails
Another irresistible delicacy! Perfectly fried snails always do well with spice and heat 🌶
Equipment
- Sauce Pan
- Wooden Spatula
- Ladle
- Blender
- Frying Pan
- Small bowl
Ingredients
- 7 medium snails halved
- 2 cloves of garlic minced
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 500 ml water
- 1 small onion
- For the sauce
- 1 ½ cups scotch bonnet pepper
- 1 medium onion chopped
- 5 cloves of garlic
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 1 large white onion chopped
- 1 medium red bell pepper chopped
Instructions
- Pour the snails into a sauce pan over medium heat, add garlic, ginger, salt, water, onion, cover and let cook for 20 minutes then take out the onion and let cook for another 15 minutes
- Pour the scotch bonnet pepper into a blender, add the boiled onion, fresh onion, garlic, water and blend into a smooth mixture
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat, add the cooked snails and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes then add the blended scotch bonnet pepper, stir and let simmer for 5 minutes
- Add salt, chopped onion, red bell pepper and stir in. Allow to simmer for a minute and take off the heat
