
Plantain Nachos
Plantain Nachos for the win!Is there anything more crispy than a tray of plantain nachos? Nada! Feel free to mix and match with your favourite toppings.
Equipment
- Glass Mixing Bowl
- Rubber spatula
- Chopping Board
- Rolling Pin
- Dough cutter
- Frying Pan
Ingredients
- 2 cup uplantain flour
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ cup onion puree
- 4 cloves of garlic minced
- 150 g margarine
- 1 litre vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl add the plantain flour, nutmeg, baking powder, salt and stir in
- Add the onion and garlic puree mix in then add the margarine continues mixing till evening combined
- Cover with a cling film and let it rest for 30 minutes
- Sprinkle some of the plantain flour on a flat surface and on a rolling pin
- Take a portion of the dough, place on the board and roll into a thin sheet, cut out with a square cutter then cut across the square into triangle shapes
- Carefully place in a heated vegetable oil and fry until golden and crispy or until the chips starts to float on the on the oil for 3-4 minutes. Take out of the oil and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil
- Plantain nachos ready to serve. Serve with any dip of your choice
